You don’t need to be a writer to share your life.

I say these words often, because it’s the most common thing I hear from women who reach out to me. They say things like, “I’m not a writer,” “I don’t know where to start,” or “I’ve thought about it, but who am I to write anything?”

First of all, who you are is someone with an amazing life who has wisdom to share. Never forget that, because it’s everything.

And you definitely don’t need to be a writer to tell your story. You just need your voice… and your voice is enough.

You’re already a storyteller.

Think about it: You tell stories all the time. To friends over lunch, to a daughter on the phone, to someone sitting next to you on a plane (or in my case, maybe not, because I know I talk way too much sometimes).

You’ve shared memories, passed along family history, and made someone laugh with one of your “back in the day” memories.

That’s storytelling.

You don’t need a book deal or an English degree to have something meaningful to say. You’ve lived. You’ve learned. You’ve grown. You’ve survived. And it all matters.

It’s not about polished words; it’s about heart.

The stories that stay with us aren’t perfectly structured. They’re honest, real, and say something about being human. And they come from a place of reflection and courage. That’s what makes your story worth telling.

Nobody’s asking for flawless grammar. What people remember is how your story made them feel. That moment when they saw themselves in your words or felt seen for the first time in a long time.

You don’t need a draft. You just need to talk.

Some of my clients come to me with journals. Some come with scribbled notes. Many come with nothing but a feeling: I need to get this out. And that’s more than enough.

We start with a conversation. I listen. I ask gentle questions. You talk. And slowly, we find the shape of your story together. You don’t have to sit at a keyboard and figure it all out alone. That’s what I’m here for. I help draw it out of you and then shape it into something beautiful that still sounds like you.

This is your story, after all, not mine. And some of my proudest times are when a client says to me, “That sounds exactly like me! How did you do that?” Well, it’s not magic. It’s listening for that turn of phrase, that inflection, that humor that’s uniquely yours.

Personal is universal.

Your life is yours alone, but your story will resonate more widely than you expect. You may think, “Well, I haven’t done anything remarkable.” But I promise you that you have.

You’ve endured. You’ve loved. You’ve lost. You’ve figured things out the hard way. You’ve made something of a life that didn’t always go as planned. And somewhere out there, another woman is aching to know she’s not alone in her own journey.

Your story can be the light she didn’t know she needed.

Start small… but start.

You don’t have to write a memoir tomorrow. You can start with a memory, a moment, or a letter to someone you love.

So, no, you don’t have to be a writer to tell your story. You just have to be willing and open to the process. I’ll walk you through the rest.

If you’ve been holding your story close, unsure what to do with it, this is your nudge.

Not to be perfect… to be real.

Not to impress… to connect.

Not to “be a writer” …  just to tell the truth about your life.

And if you’d like someone to help you find the words, I’d be honored to help you begin.
